Prediction: Atletico Madrid to win 4-0

Best Odds: 22/1

Bookmaker: Zetbet

Girona and Atletico Madrid will lock horns with each other in La Liga next weekend. The match between Michel’s side and Diego Simeone’s team will be held at Estadi Montilivi and is scheduled to kick off at 1pm UK next Sunday.

Girona

Girona are a modest club in Spain that did exceptionally well last season. Michel’s side finished as high as third in the La Liga table and featured in the UEFA Champions League this campaign.

Blanquivermells, though, failed to do anything of note in the Champions League this season, and their league form has also suffered. Girona are as low as 15th in the La Liga table at the moment with 41 points from 37 matches. They cannot finish higher than 13th and will not get relegated to the Segunda Division.

Girona will head into the La Liga match against Atletico Madrid at Estadi Montilivi on the back of a 3-2 defeat to Real Sociedad away from home in the league. It came after a 1-0 victory over Real Valladolid on the road in La Liga, which followed a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Villarreal in front of their fans in the league.

Team News:

Girona are likely to line up in a 4-2-3-1 formation against Atletico Madrid. Krapyvtsov Vladyslav will be in goal for the home team. Arnau Martínez, Alejandro Frances, Ladislav Krejci and Daley Blind will be the four defenders. Yangel Herrera and Jhon Solis will be the two holding midfielders. Viktor Tsygankov, Ivan Martin and Yaser Asprilla will be the three attacking midfielders. Cristhian Stuani will lead the line for Girona.

Atletico Madrid

Atletico Madrid are one of the biggest clubs in Spain who regularly challenge for the La Liga title and play in the UEFA Champions League. Just like in the last campaign, Atletico were keen on clinching La Liga, the UEFA Champions League and the Copa del Rey this time around, but they will end up with none of them.

Diego Simeone’s side finished as high as fourth in the La Liga table last season. Atletico are third in the La Liga table at the moment with 73 points from 37 games. Los Colchoneros are three points ahead of fourth-placed Athletic Bilbao.

Atletico will head into the La Liga match against Girona at Estadi Montilivi next weekend on the back of a 4-1 victory over Real Betis at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano Stadium in the league. It came after a 2-0 defeat to Osasuna on the road in La Liga, which came after a 4-0 hammering of Real Sociedad in front of their fans in the league.

Team News:

Atletico Madrid are likely to line up in a 4-4-2 formation against Girona at Estadi Montilivi. Jan Oblak will be in goal for the visiting team. Marcos Llorente, Robin Le Normand, Clement Lenglet and Javi Galan will be the four defenders. Giuliano Simeone, Rodrigo De Paul, Koke and Samuel Lino are the four midfielders. Alexander Sorloth and Julian Alvarez will be the two forwards.

Key Factors to Consider

Girona have scored 44 goals in 37 La Liga matches this season.
Girona have conceded 56 goals in 37 La Liga matches this season.
Atletico Madrid have conceded 30 goals in 37 La Liga games this campaign.
Julian Alvarez has scored 17 goals and given 3 assists in 36 La Liga matches for Atletico Madrid this campaign.
Alexander Sorloth has scored 17 goals and provided 2 assists in 34 La Liga games for Atletico Madrid this campaign.

Conclusion

Girona have been poor this season, and despite being the home side, it is hard to see them do much of note against Atletico Madrid, who are very likely to pick up all three points from this particular La Liga game.

Prediction: Atletico Madrid to win 4-0
