Everton announce the signing of teenage left-back Adam Aznou from Bayern Munich for an undisclosed fee.

Everton have announced the signing of teenage left-back Adam Aznou from Bayern Munich.

The 19-year-old defender, who can also operate as a left-winger, has penned a four-year contract until June 2029 and is believed to have joined for an initial fee of €9m (£7.9m) plus €3m (£2.6m) in add-ons.

Aznou becomes David Moyes’s fourth signing of the summer transfer window after midfielder Carlos Alcaraz, striker Thierno Barry and goalkeeper Mark Travers.

“I’m so happy to be here. I’m so proud to be part of this team,” Aznou told evertontv. “The project they gave me is really good. The Premier League is the best league in the world so I’m really excited to start.

“The stadium is really nice. It gives you a good feeling and it’s good for our fans to support us. It’s perfect for us.

“I just have to say I’m really thankful to be here. I’m really proud so I will give everything in every training session and every game.”

Moyes swiftly persuaded Aznou to join Everton

Aznou was quickly persuaded to join Everton following conversations with Moyes, adding: “[Moyes] talked with me, he spoke with me about the team and how he wants me. So I decided directly when I spoke with him.

“I decided really quickly because of the words he gave me. He gave me confidence, so I decided to sign.”

Reacting to Everton’s latest signing, Moyes said: “We are pleased to bring Adam to Everton. He’s a young talented player with a lot of potential.

“Left-backs are not easy to get and we’ve brought in a young player who we hope will grow in his time at Everton.”

Aznou arrives at the Hill Dickinson Stadium following the departure of Ashley Young last month, and he is set to rival Vitaliy Mykolenko for regular starts at left-back next season.

Who is Everton’s latest signing Adam Aznou?

Aznou is a three-cap Morocco international who was born in Barcelona and began his youth career with Spanish outfit Damm before spending three years in the famed La Masia academy between 2019 and 2022.

After rejecting a number of offers from top European clubs, Aznou opted to swap Barcelona for Bayern Munich and featured regularly from Under-17 to Under-19 side before making 18 appearances for the German club’s second team.

During his time at Bayern, Aznou only made four senior appearances, making his Champions League debut for in December 2024 as a substitute in a 5-1 League Phase win over Shakhtar Donetsk.

His final outing for the Bundesliga champions was also from the bench in the 10-0 hammering of Auckland City at the FIFA Club World Cup last month.

Aznou played 13 times on loan at La Liga side Real Valladolid in the second half of last season, and he is now aiming to gain regular game time under Moyes at Everton in the Premier League, with the Toffees travelling to Leeds United for their opening top-flight fixture of the new campaign on August 18.
