Spain Under-21 international ‘makes decision’ over potential

Wolverhampton Wanderers reportedly establish where they stand in the race to sign Sevilla wide player Juanlu Sanchez.

With less than two weeks remaining before their Premier League opener against Manchester City, Wolves are attempting to be more proactive in the transfer market.

David Moller Wolfe joined from AZ Alkmaar at the weekend to give the club a boost when it comes to the wing-back roles, the Norway international expected to become first choice on the left.

However, a fresh face is required on the right after the departure of Nelson Semedo, and Wolves seemingly hold an interest in Juanlu.

Last week, the suggestion was that the West Midlands outfit were attempting to sign the Spain Under-21 international in a £14.7m deal.

What is Juanlu’s Wolves stance?

According to Orgullo de Nervion, Juanlu has no intention of jumping at the opportunity to move to Molineux.

The report suggests that Juanlu’s preference is to sign for Napoli, even though the Serie A champions have been biding their time over finalising a transfer.

Juanlu, however, is not completing shutting the door on eventually signing for Wolves, the indication being that they are merely not his first choice.

Everton are another team that have been credited as admirers in recent days, yet it appears that they will fall into the same bracket as their fellow English side.

Time for Wolves to end Juanlu interest

Part of Wolves’ struggles in this summer’s transfer market is being turned down by players who have favoured moves to bigger clubs.

Coincidentally, their initial choice for right wing-back was Marc Pubill before the Spaniard opted for Atletico Madrid instead.

Although there will be an acceptance that Wolves will sometimes be dwarfed by other teams, they are losing too much time when it comes to signing new players.

Ki-Jana Hoever – who spent last season on loan at Auxerre – appears in line to begin the campaign on the right flank with 18-year-old Pedro Lima as his deputy.

That said, at a time when the Brazilian teenager is being linked with a loan switch to Wrexham, it emphasises why more experience is required in the aforementioned position.
