Jadon Sancho’s turbulent spell at Manchester United could be set for another twist, with reports in Spain suggesting that Atletico Madrid have quietly placed the winger on their transfer shortlist.
According to Fichajes, Diego Simeone is keen to inject fresh creativity and pace into his wide areas, and the England international has emerged as a player of interest.
The 25-year-old’s future has been the subject of constant speculation since his high-profile falling out with United’s management. After struggling to reclaim his place in the squad, Sancho was loaned out to Chelsea for the 2024/25 campaign.

That move initially appeared to be a fresh start, with the deal containing a £25 million obligation to buy at the end of the season. However, the transfer collapsed when Sancho refused to accept a pay cut to finalise the switch permanently.
Since returning, things have not improved for the former Borussia Dortmund star. Under new boss Ruben Amorim, Sancho has been completely frozen out, failing to feature in pre-season matches and training away from the first team.
Atletico Madrid’s interest could offer Sancho a lifeline. Simeone is believed to see him as a potential game-changer on the flanks, with his technical ability and direct style suiting the Spanish side’s counter-attacking philosophy.

The challenge for Atleti, however, will be competing with Borussia Dortmund, who are also reportedly in the race to bring Sancho back to the Bundesliga.
With just around three weeks remaining in the transfer window to shut down, the Red Devils are desperate to offload Sancho this summer after completely revamping their attacking force with new signings.
The likes of Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha and Benjamin Sesko have all arrived at the club to take the attacking positions in Amorim’s starting XI, making it clear once again that Sancho has no future at the club.
