Former Wolves forward, new Palace signing mocked for social

Fabio Silva and Christantus Uche are both being mocked on social media after posting near-identical exit messages on Instagram.

During the closing weeks of the summer transfer window, both players were the subject of frequent speculation ahead of likely exits from Wolverhampton Wanderers and Getafe respectively.

On Friday, Silva completed a move to Borussia Dortmund, while Uche left his La Liga side in order to sign for Crystal Palace on deadline day.

Both players subsequently took to social media to deliver what came across as heartfelt messages to the clubs that they were leaving.

However, as highlighted by a Wolves supporter on X, there are only minimal differences between the posts made by the pair.

What could explanation be for Silva, Uche gaffe?

With Silva’s Instagram post coming three days before Uche’s, the finger will be pointed more at Uche until there is an official explanation, and Silva has taken to social media to claim that he wrote the message as far back as August 22.

In the modern-day world of technology, however, the majority of X users who have commented on the post justifiably suspect that Silva and Uche have turned to ChatGPT for their exit messages.

Silva used a total of 249 words, Uche using just one word fewer. A full-stop has also been incorrectly included in one of Uche’s sentences that would have otherwise been identical to one used by Silva.

While Silva and Uche having the same representatives could have been used as an explanation, Transfermarkt suggests that they have different agents.

From the outside, the pair’s only association comes from both featuring in La Liga last season, when Silva was on loan at Las Palmas.

Therefore, it is fair to assume that Silva and Uche have taken the easy way out when it comes to addressing the supporters of their previous clubs, naturally casting doubt in the minds of football fans around the world over how many other players have done the same.
