Atletico Madrid got the better of rivals Real Madrid in historic fashion on Saturday, as Los Rojiblancos put five past them in the derby for the first time since 1950. It is no surprise that tensions were running high, but Koke Resurreccion and Vinicius Junior were caught on camera expressing those tensions.
The Atletico captain once said in an interview before the Madrid derby that if Vinicius were to dance in front of the Metropolitano, there would be a mess, which unfortunately preceeded the Brazilian being racially abused beforehand. Clearly Koke has nothing to do with that, but there is little love lost between the pair.
🚨 Question: “Is there belief in the dressing room to fight for all titles?”
Marcos Llorente: “Yes. If we didn’t believe it, we wouldn’t have been able to play the way we did the other day. The attitude from the derby is the one we want to have. It is the standard to follow.” pic.twitter.com/MH2LTfn0SK

Vinicius and Koke get into it during the Madrid derby
This informed the ‘discussion’ between the two on the pitch, which Movistar+ captured from the sidelines.
“You always, always speaking with the press… Everything that I say to him, he’ll tell the press later.”
❗️”Te come la tostada (Mbappé)… El mejor…”.

It was Kylian Mbappe who intervened from Los Blancos’ cohort to try and calm the matter, and Koke used the Frenchman as the basis of his response. “He’s better,” Koke said, gesturing to Mbappe, while speaking to Vinicius.
“Of course, yes, yes. But he plays with me. So we’re going to win more,” Vinicius responded. “You’re a crybaby s***,” he was also captured saying later in the game.
“He’s eating your toast [he’s eating your lunch],” Koke continued, pretending to eat something with his hand, referencing the fact that Mbappe has, in the eyes of many, usurped the Brazilian as Real Madrid’s principle star.
Xabi Alonso’s criticism of Real Madrid
While Vinicius may have given some back to Koke verbally, his manager Xabi Alonso was not best-pleased with the attitude of his side. His feeling was that Real Madrid failed to compete in the same fashion as Atletico, one of the main motives for their sizable defeat. Simeone on the other hand went out of his way to praise Atletico’s commitment to the cause.
