WATCH: Real Madrid players make beeline for Lamine Yamal

Real Madrid defeated Barcelona in the first El Clasico meeting of the season on Sunday, and typically, there were handbags after the final whistle at the Santiago Bernabeu. There has always been animosity between the two great rivals, but it was elevated on the back of recent comments made by Lamine Yamal.

Barcelona’s number 10 claimed that Real Madrid “rob teams”, remarks that did not go down well within Los Blancos. Dani Carvajal intended to speak to his Spain teammate after the final whistle, and a video has now captured the moment he did, with Thibaut Courtois also seen confronting Lamine Yamal.

There had already been clashes in the dying stages of the match after Pedri was sent off for a second yellow card, and that needle continued immediately after referee Cesar Soto Grado brought an end to proceedings. As well as Carvajal and Courtois, Vinicius Junior was seen to be involved, as he almost came to blows with his international colleague Raphinha.

Lamine Yamal was backed to deal with the attention of him with another top performance in El Clasico, but instead, he was kept off of the game by Real Madrid left-back Alvaro Carreras. He struggled to make any impact, although that could have been said for a number of Barcelona players.

It’s no secret that Lamine Yamal is still working his way back to full fitness after a number of weeks out with a pubis injury, so his quiet display can be justified slightly in this regard. However, that did not make the feeling of victory any less sweet for Real Madrid, who extended their lead at the top of La Liga to five points with the victory at the Bernabeu, which came about after goals from Kylian Mbappe and Jude Bellingham.
