Barcelona will soon receive €4-5m for the sale of Unai Hernandez to Al-Ittihad, and more money could be coming their way by next Monday’s deadline. As reported by MD, AS Roma are keen on Mika Marmol as a replacement for Bayer Leverkusen-bound defender Mario Hermoso, who also used to play for Atletico Madrid.
Marmol is currently at Las Palmas, who signed him from Barcelona in the summer of 2023. As part of that deal, both clubs took home 50% of the player’s rights, meaning that a transfer fee would be split down the middle.
It’s not only Roma that are after Marmol, as a further report from MD has confirmed that Sevilla, who are long-term admirers of the 23-year-old defender. Los Nervionenses are in the market for a new centre-back as Tianguy Nianzou is out for the rest of the season after undergoing surgery, while Marcao is also tipped for an exit in the next five days.
Marmol is a key player for Las Palmas, so it is not surprise that the Gran Canaria-based club have no plans to negotiate with any interested sides – not only because a mid-season deal is unfavourable, but because they would only receive half of the transfer fee. As such, nothing will happen unless someone triggers the €10m release clause in Marmol’s contract.
Roma have offered €7m for Marmol, but Las Palmas will not budge. Barcelona will be hoping that a deal is completed before the winter transfer window closes next week, as those extra funds could be valuable.
