Fichajes has reported that Real Madrid have turned their attention to Marin Zubimendi of Real Sociedad for a summer move and are pretty optimistic about a successful deal. Arsenal and Liverpool were very interested in signing the defensive midfielder with a release clause of €60 million in the previous transfer windows.

Real Madrid want to sign Martin Zubimendi

Los Blancos are looking for a long-term replacement for their legend Luka Modric, who has already reached the twilight of his career. Zubimendi has been performing consistently in La Liga and is one of the most important players of Real Sociedad.

Zubimendi, a defensive midfielder for Real Sociedad, is known for his tactical intelligence and composure under pressure. His strengths include exceptional defensive awareness, with a knack for reading the game, blocking shots, and making clearances.

Zubimendi excels in aerial duels and possesses the ability to initiate plays with precise through balls. His passing is simple yet effective, often finding open spaces and maintaining possession under pressure. His work ethic and ability to control the game’s tempo make him a valuable asset in midfield. Therefore, he will definitely be a good signing for the Los Blancos.

The €60 million release clause is definitely within the reach of the reigning La Liga champions. However, they will definitely face competition from Arsenal. However, whenever Real Madrid is in the race, a player will generally prefer the Spanish side given that they are the greatest club in the world.

Will the move be feasible?

Zubimendi has scored 1 goal in 21 matches so far in the La Liga 2024/2025 season. His total G/A (goals + assists) is 2 for this season. Zubimendi passes the ball roughly 55.23 times during a game with a pass completion rate of 84.01%. He also plays 0.60 key passes each game, which leads to significant scoring chances. Overall, Zubimendi Ibanez’s xA (expected assists) output is 0.13 per 90 minutes.

Now, it remains to be seen if Real Madrid are successful in luring the defensive midfielder to Santiago Bernabeu in the summer transfer window. However, Carlo Ancelotti’s side are definitely confident of beating the competition and do have the financial resources to complete the move. It will be interesting times ahead.
