Who are the best Real Madrid players right now? – LaLiga Expert
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

While the Galactico era at the Santiago Bernabeu in theory ended in the 2000s, there are plenty of stars within this current crop of Real Madrid players. The signing of Kylian Mbappe last summer added a genuine superstar to their ranks, but where does the Frenchman rank among the best performing players in Carlo Ancelotti’s squad?

We’ve ranked the best Real Madrid players according to their average score on Sorare’s scoring matrix. This takes into account not only decisive actions such as goals and assists, but virtually everything a player does on the pitch, with successful passes, tackles and interceptions among the things that contribute to a score out of 100. You can join Sorare today if you want to start playing their global fantasy football game.

To feature in the rankings below, players in the Real Madrid squad must have appeared in at least 50% of their eligible matches within the relevant time-frame. That includes league and European games for Los Blancos, and in some cases international matches for their countries.

Real Madrid best players 2024/25 – Ranked by their Sorare average scores (Last 15 matches)

5. Lucas Vazquez – 63.5

While few would rank Lucas Vazquez among the most impactful players for Ancelotti’s side, the 33-year-old has posted some pretty impressive numbers over recent months, with Dani Carvajal’s season-ending injury leading to much more regular playing time for the right-sided player.

Operating almost exclusively as a full-back these days, assists for Vazquez against Sevilla, Las Palmas and Brest contribute to his high average score of 63.5 over the course of his past 15 eligible fixtures.

He only appeared in 10 of those games though, with the sense that he is vulnerable defensively leading to Fede Valverde being preferred at right-back in some of Madrid’s bigger matches.

4. Fede Valverde – 64.9

Valverde has been one of Real Madrid’s most consistent performers over the past few years, with the Uruguayan’s versatility particularly useful to Ancelotti.

Whether he’s operating as a central or right-sided midfielder, or filling in at right-back, you always get 100% effort and commitment from Valverde.

His knack for firing in stunning goals from range has also made him a firm fan favourite, while he has also registered assists in his two most recent starts at right-back against Osasuna and Manchester City.

3. Jude Bellingham – 66.3

An instant hit in the Spanish capital when he made the move from Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2023, Jude Bellingham is already established as not only one of the best Real Madrid midfielders, but one of the outstanding central players in Europe of his generation.

Still only 21, Bellingham has already won LaLiga and the Champions League and he surprised everyone with a 23-goal return in all competitions in his debut season in Spain.

This term, he has needed to adapt his game slightly and hasn’t always operated in such advanced positions which has come at the detriment of his goalscoring return, but his influence has still been large in the centre of the park.

2. Rodrygo – 68.4

Many assumed when Mbappe rocked up at the Bernabeu following Euro 2024, that Rodrygo would be the fall guy who might potentially end up losing his place in this Real Madrid XI.

However, that has not been the case, with Ancelotti attempting to find a way to get the right-footed quartet of Mbappe, Rodrygo, Bellingham and Vinicius Junior into the same side. Despite most frequently being used on the right flank, rather than his favoured left side, Rodrygo has continued to shine and has at times outperformed his bigger name teammates.

The 24-year-old has also taken on some set-piece responsibilities this season which has contributed to some very high scores on Sorare, including perfect 100s in recent clashes with Las Palmas and Brest.

1. Kylian Mbappe – 68.7

It was by no means a flying start to life in the Spanish capital from Mbappe. He was taking on more shots than anyone else in La Liga, but was statistically one of the most wasteful forward players in the division in the opening months of the campaign.

Missed penalties in Liverpool and Bilbao towards the end of 2024 added to the sense that the two-time World Cup finalist was really lacking confidence and feeling the pressure that inevitably goes with being a marquee signing at the Santiago Bernabeu.

However, Mbappe has come good in spectacular fashion in 2025. With 14 goals in his last 13 appearances, including four across the two legs against Manchester City in the Champions League, the 26-year-old is now the best-performing of the Real Madrid forwards and the focal point of this attack.

Top 10 Real Madrid players – Ranked by their average over the last 40 matches

RankingPlayerL40 average score1Jude Bellingham65.02Rodrygo61.73Kylian Mbappe61.24Vinicius Junior60.85Fede Valverde60.76Luka Modric57.87Thibaut Courtois54.18Eduardo Camavinga53.99Lucas Vazquez52.610Dani Ceballos52.5

Zooming out slightly to the last 40 matches, with the help of Soraredata, a slightly different picture emerges. Bellingham has been Madrid’s best-scoring player over that time-frame which also includes some UEFA Nations League fixtures with England.

Ballon d’Or runner-up Vinicius also breaks into the top five, with Vazquez falling well down the list to 9th place. The experienced duo of Luka Modric and Thibaut Courtois also make the top 10 Real Madrid players over the past 40 games, with 39-year-old Modric still capable of dictating the pace of matches from midfield.

Dani Carvajal, one of four Real Madrid captains for the 2024/25 season, and Eder Militao would also both have featured had they not picked up ACL injuries that prevented them reaching the 50% appearance threshold.
