Real Madrid stalwart Lucas Vazquez is reportedly heading towards the exit door following the news that Trent Alexander-Arnold will be heading to the Spanish capital this summer.
Lucas Vazquez’s Real Madrid future is reportedly in ‘serious doubt’ due to Trent Alexander-Arnold’s highly-anticipated arrival.
Real Madrid are widely expected to sign Alexander-Arnold on a free transfer this season after it was recently reported that he has agreed a five-year deal with Los Blancos.
As a result, Alexander-Arnold’s long association with Liverpool will come to an end when his contract expires at the end of June.
The right-back will then head to the Bernabeu to join his friend Jude Bellingham, who has played a role in convincing Alexander-Arnold to make the switch to the Spanish capital.

Vazquez heading towards Real Madrid exit
While Alexander-Arnold will bolster Real Madrid’s squad, his arrival could spell the end of Vazquez’s career at the Santiago Bernabeu.
According to Spanish outlet Relevo, the Spaniard’s Real Madrid future is in serious doubt following the news that Alexander-Arnold will join the club for next season.
Vazquez started his career as a winger, but he has since been converted to a right-back to provide cover for Dani Carvajal.
However, Carvajal’s serious knee injury has exposed Vazquez’s vulnerabilities as a regular starter in the right-back position.

Vazquez’s uncertain contract situation
Carvajal is looking to recover for the start of next season, and his return, combined with Alexander-Arnold’s arrival, will knock Vazquez down the pecking order at the Santiago Bernabeu.
As a result, Real Madrid are seemingly weighing up whether to offer Vazquez a contract extension or bid farewell when his current deal expires at the end of the season.
Real Madrid president Florentino Perez sticks by a policy where he only offers one-year deals to players in their 30s, like Vazquez, who will turn 34 in July.
Apart from spending one season on loan at Espanyol, the experienced full-back has spent the entirety of his career with the Spanish giants.
Vazquez is just 13 games away from making 400 competitive appearances for the club, but it seems there is a strong possibility his time at the Bernabeu could come to an end when his contract expires this summer.
