Fabio Silva was signed by Wolves in the summer of 2020 for a club record £35m, scoring five goals in his 73 appearances for the club.

Arriving in the Premier League at the age of just 18, the teenager would have had immense pressure to deliver from the get-go.

He had made just 21 senior appearances for Portuguese giants Porto before his big-money move, which was always deemed a massive risk.

His underwhelming first two seasons at Wolves added to further talk surrounding his price tag, as he is now considered to be one of the worst signings in Premier League history (via Attacking Football).

Since his arrival at the Molineux, Silva expressed regrets over his Wolves move, saying he would have liked another year or in his home country before such a massive switch.

He has been sent on four loan spells in Belgium, Holland, and Scotland but has now become La Liga side UD Las Palmas’s main man.

Sitting in 18th, scoring goals has been a struggle for Las Palmas, having scored just 37 in 31 games.

However, the 22-year-old has become the side’s key marksman in their relegation fight after two goals helped his team to a 3-1 win at Getafe, closing the gap to 17th place Deportivo Alaves to one point.

With Deportivo hosting champions Real Madrid in their game in hand, the men in yellow will be hoping los Blancos can secure what should be a routine win.

Remarkably, Silva’s brace at Getafe took his tally up to 10 for the season, making him just the third UD Las Palmas player in the 21st century to have 10+ goals in a single campaign.

10 – Fábio Silva has scored 10 goals in 23 games in LaLiga 2024/25, becoming the third UD Las Palmas player to score 10+ goals in a single campaign in the competition in the 21st century, after Jonathan Viera in 2015/16 (10) and Kevin-Prince Boateng in 2016/17 (10). Silva faces Wolves decision this summer

With the growing consensus that Matheus Cunha may leave Wolves this summer, it will be interesting to see if they view Silva as a potential replacement.

From the player’s point of view, it is reported by Diario AS, that Silva will look to stabilise his career, and he sees Spain as the perfect place to do so.

According to the report, he would like to stay in La Liga, but a permanent transfer agreement with Wolves is something that is financially out of UD Las Palmas’s reach.

With Wolves striker Jørgen Strand Larsen scoring 11 goals this season, it is likely that they already view the Norwegian as their long-term centre-forward.

Will Fabio Silva stay and fight for his chance under Vitor Pereira, or will he get a permanent move abroad to kick-start his career?

Could he become another player that Wolves deem surplus to requirements, who ends up thriving in Europe like PSG star Vitinha?
