Atlético Madrid are keen on re-signing former player Thomas Partey when his current contract with Arsenal comes to an end.
The Ghanaian international played 188 games for the Spanish club between 2013 and 2020, before moving to Arsenal when they met his release clause. He was part of the side that won a La Liga title under Diego Simeone and finished runners-up in the Champions League in 2016.
His time at the Emirates has been punctuated by injury, although he is enjoying his best season since moving to North London in terms of staying fit and scoring goals.
Despite that, at the age of 31 years old, there has been no talk of offering him a new contract at the Emirates, which means that he will be available on a free transfer.
Atlético have arguably struggled to replace Partey since he left, whilst returning to a league that is less physical than the Premier League might help extend his career.
