Barcelona announce fresh shirt sponsorship agreements

Barcelona and Spotify will continue their partnership for the coming years, with the music streaming platform due to remain as the main sponsor for the Catalan club. The Swedish company have been in partnership with Barcelona since 2022, a relationship that the Catalan club believe has gone well.

The Catalan giants have announced that they have extended their deal with Spotify to continue as their main shirt sponsor for their playing and training kit until 2030, while their deal for the stadium naming rights – ‘Spotify Camp Nou’ – has also been extended until 2034. It is not yet clear how much Spotify will pay, but President Joan Laporta will no doubt be asked about it during Barcelona’s General Assembly this weekend.

The deal they are currently on is believed to be worth around €65m per year to Barcelona for the shirt sponsorship. That consists of a base fee of €57.5m, with the extra made up in bonuses. It is also not clear if the extension was a decision taken by Spotify, or an agreement reached between the two.

Barcelona were seemingly keen to renegotiate the deal, aiming for around €120m per year, an increase of around 70%. Yet Spotify have a clause in the current deal allowing them to unilaterally extend the deal until 2030, which would see the base fee increased to €65m, with an extra €15m available for the sponsorship of the front and back of their training kits.

Spotify Camp Nou return essential to finances

On the other hand, the initial deal for the naming rights to Camp Nou were thought to be worth around €20m per season to Barcelona. Yet with Barcelona not playing there currently due to the renovation work on the stadium, the fee received annually drops to just €5m. Under the previous terms at least, that will remain the case until Barcelona return to Camp Nou at 90% capacity. If they do not do so by 2028, Spotify had a clause allowing them to terminate the deal.
