According to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona are keeping a close eye on Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali. The Spanish club could attempt signing him in the summer transfer window if they are convinced enough.

Sandro Tonali has been a loved figure ever since arriving at Newcastle United in the summer of 2023. He has been a key performer for the club and an integral part of the side. His consistent performances haven’t gone unnoticed as several clubs are monitoring him.

Tonali etched his name in the books of history by helping the Magpies win their first title. He has featured across 35 games, netting thrice and assisting twice. He is averaging 1.5 tackles, 0.9 interceptions, and 0.9 clearances per game (stats via whoscored).

The Italian midfielder is versatile and is known for his energy and high work-rate. He possesses solid defensive traits and the ability to provide accurate passes. He can also initiate attacks on his own and can set set-pieces effectively.

Tonali’s current contract runs until 2028, which means Newcastle United are in no hurry to decide his future. He is earning £120,000 per week and would fancy a move only if paid more than that. Considering all the factors, Barcelona are unlikely to get their hands on the 24-year-old.
