Next summer’s transfer window will be a very important one for Barcelona, who need to address multiple key areas of Hansi Flick’s squad. A new central defender and striker are needed, but a decision must also be made on what to do with Marcus Rashford, who is currently on loan from Manchester United.
Rashford arrived in Catalonia on a season-long loan that includes an option to buy, believed to be in the region of £30m (€34.5m). And so far, the England international is making it easier and easier for Barcelona to trigger this, as he has been a very encouraging start to life at the club.
Rashford has three goals and four assists in 10 appearances since his summer move, and recently, he has carried the side’s attacking threat in the absence of Lamine Yamal and Raphinha. His performances are impressing those at Barcelona’s helm, who are already prepared to make a decision on signing him permanently.
Barcelona intend to trigger Marcus Rashford buy option
Recently, Deco stated that no decision has been made on Rashford’s long-term future at Barcelona, but according to reports in England (via CaughtOffside), the club’s sporting department are already in agreement that the 27-year-old will be signed on a permanent basis from Man United.
Going into this season, it was evident that Barcelona needed strength in depth if they were to replicate their exploits from the 2024-25 campaign. Rashford was the only senior outfield player signed during the summer as there was no space for further additions, but at the very least, he has done his part so far.
It remains to be seen whether Rashford can keep up his fine recent form, but if so, it will make it easier and easier for Barcelona to justify signing him permanently next summer.
