Barcelona have finally had some positive injury news, after a run of disappointing updates. The Blaugrana currently have five players out injured following the diagnoses of Fermin Lopez and Gavi earlier this week.
While Gavi has been out for the past month, on Monday the club confirmed that he would be undergoing surgery, which will keep him out for some time yet. Lopez has also suffered a hip injury, which will see him absent until at least after the October international break.
Alejandro Balde moves closer to comeback
The major news is that Alejandro Balde is closer to a return, following his hamstring issue that he suffered against Rayo Vallecano. Sport say that he has now been kept out for the period of absence initially predicted, three weeks, but is progressing well, and on Tuesday rejoined the group training session.
He will not be back in action on Thursday during Barcelona’s clash with Real Oviedo, and they say that it is very unlikely he will be back for their weekend clash with Real Sociedad on Sunday. However Balde could make a return on the grand stage, with their match against Paris Saint-Germain next Tuesday circled for a potential return.
Lamine Yamal yet to return to group work
Less positive is Lamine Yamal’s progress, who continues to work alone in the gym with a physiotherapist. Barcelona will be without the Kopa Trophy winner against Oviedo. There is little news on whether he has improved, but President Joan Laporta did let slip that he could play against the Txuri-Urdin this weekend.

Pau Cubarsi could be fit for Real Oviedo
Centre-back Pau Cubarsi was taken off against Newcastle United last week after a knock to his knee. Hansi Flick kept him out of action against Getafe, but he too has returned to train with the group. There is optimism in Can Barca that Cubarsi could be part of the squad for their trip to Asturias.
