According to Sport, Barcelona are interested in signing Marcus Rashford on an initial loan, but with an option to make the deal permanent in the near future.
Rashford has revitalized his career since joining Aston Villa on loan from Manchester United in January, scoring four goals and producing seven assists in 17 matches across all competitions for Unai Emery’s team. He’s played an important role for Villa as they aim to play Champions League football again next season, having reached the quarterfinals this term.
With three years left on his contract, Manchester United have put a £40million price tag on the 27-year-old forward, whose versatility allows him to play anywhere across the attacking line.
However, Barcelona and United will both have to wait for a decision from Aston Villa before they can start any negotiations, as Villa also have an option to buy in their own loan agreement. If they decide not to trigger it, he won’t play for Birmingham club, being ineligible to face United on the final matchday of the season.
