According to AS, Barcelona have made contact with the representatives of Dusan Vlahovic, over the possibility of signing the Serbian striker as a free agent when his contract expires at the end of the season.
Barca’s current first choice up front, Robert Lewandowski, will also be out of contract come next summer. While the possibility of the Polish veteran signing a new deal hasn’t been ruled out, his departure is also a realistic option, given that he will have turned 38 by then. The situation has understandably prompted the Catalan club to scour the market for a new player to lead their attacking line.
Meanwhile, Vlahovic has started the season very well, with five goal contributions (four goals and an assist) in eight appearances in the Serie A and the Champions League combined. Still, there doesn’t seem to be a sufficient level of trust between the 25-year-old and head coach Igor Tudor, and the club chose to bring in Lois Openda and Jonathan David as alternative options this summer.
Like Lewandowski at Barcelona, Vlahovic could still sign a new contract, but at this point, it doesn’t seem very likely.
