Barcelona overcame a gritty resistance from Olympiakos in the second half to put them to the sword 6-1 at Montjuic.
Starting XI
Wojciech Szczesny – 5.5
Early on the Polish goalkeeper was shaky in possession, as Olympiakos clearly targeted him on the ball. One nice claim, otherwise untroubled for the most part.
Jules Kounde – 5.5
Still looks some way off his best. Kounde gave the ball away dangerously in the first half, and struggles to shut down his opposite number. A more comfortable second half.
Pau Cubarsi – 7
Some nice interventions, Cubarsi was largely quick to snuff out danger, and sharper than he has been of late. Neither he nor his partner covered themselves in glory in the lead-up to Olympiakos’ penalty.
Eric Garcia – 6.5
A largely unremarkable game for Garcia. He neither stood out positively or negatively, but did give away the penalty.
Alejandro Balde – 7
Grabbed an assist for Marcus Rashford’s first, and looked far more in sync with him going forward. Was also heavily involved in Barcelona’s opener, breaking the Olympiakos press in impressive fashion. Although a penalty was eventually given, his failure to close down Daniel Podence for Ayoub El Kaabi’s initial goal was nightmarish. The Portuguese winger also got free on several occasions.

Marc Casado – 7
A solid performance from Casado alongside Pedri, snapping in to tidy up in midfield, as is his duty. Struggled to help control the middle of the pitch though.
Pedri – 8
His fingerprints are all over most good things for Barcelona, and it was his interception that caused Barcelona’s second. By no means their headliner, but once again a force of positive influence for the Blaugrana.
Fermin Lopez – 9
Early on reminded of why he has become so important, finding space and attacking it. He was key in the opener, before finishing it off, and then did so. In the second, he showed composure to cut in and finish with his weaker left. After a quieter spell, Fermin was crucial in helping ‘win the game again’.
A precision exchange with Rashford was the impetus for Lamine Yamal’s penalty and Barcelona’s third. By the time he was waltzing onto his hat-trick goal, you had absolutely no doubt that he would finish it. The best player on the pitch.
Lamine Yamal – 7.5
Measuring Lamine Yamal is harder these days, because you usually do it against his own standards. Although he was instrumental in their opener, and converted the penalty, he remains subdued, and far from his best. Much more threatening to do things than doing them.
Dro Fernandez – 7.5
A difficult task for the 17-year-old alternating with Marcus Rashford through the middle and wide, he showed his quality with a lovely early backheel. When Pedri got the ball to him in space, he turned and found Fermin with ease, carrying out the move perfectly. Neat and tidy otherwise, looked at home.

Marcus Rashford – 8.5
The first half was mixed for Rashford, as he came in and out of the game. Once the spaces opened up after the red card, he was brilliant. Earned, and in every sense of the word, the penalty that sealed the game, and his finishes for the fourth and sixth were excellent. As an aside, good team spirit holding back to allow Fermin to score his first hat-trick when he could easily have gone for it.
Substitutes
Frenkie de Jong – 7
Neat and tidy, came on for Dro with half an hour to go. Attacked the space well, and helped win the ball back.
Roony Bardghji – 7
A nice cameo. Beat his man to setup Lopez’s hat-trick, and looked bright again. Naturally, lacks a little refinement once in space, but sparks again.
Ronald Araujo – 6.5
Little to report here, a much more quiet evening than his cameo at the weekend.
Gerard Martin – 7.5
It’s a shame his assist was one of six, because in isolation, it’s brilliant play. Won the ball back in the middle of the pitch and lofted it perfectly in behind for Rashford to run onto.
Marc Bernal – 6.5
More minutes for Bernal to get back up to speed.
