Barcelona’s Deco in talks with striker out of contract in 2026

Barcelona are once again operating without much certainty on their spending power for the coming transfer windows, after their €100m lease of VIP seats was removed from their accounts for the time being by their auditor. It means that the task of replacing veteran forward Robert Lewandowski without much budget is that much harder for Director of Football Deco.

There is the feeling that if Ferran Torres can prove himself in the position this season, then it would reduce the need for a major signing in the centre-forward position. In the summer it was also posited that Dani Olmo could also feature through the middle, as he did on occasion last season. However those options remain a hyopthetical for Barcelona’s plans going forward.

Barcelona in talks with Dusan Vlahovic

Recent months have seen Barcelona, amongst a number of others, linked with Juventus forward Dusan Vlahovic. The 26-year-old is out of contract next summer, and there seems to be little sign of a new deal being signed with the Bianconeri. As per Tuttosport, via Football Italia, Deco spoke to Vlahovic’s agent Darko Ristic as far back as August, and conversations are not ruled out down the line.

They say that Vlahovic is one of ‘two or three’ forwards being considered by Barcelona for a move next summer. The Serbian is also on the radar of Bayern Munich, although the Blaugrana are likely to be able to offer a better shot at competing for a starting position if Harry Kane is at the Allianz Arena.

Ferran Torres has chatted with Flick this morning to tell him that he still has some slight discomfort in his hamstring. He should still be available against Girona. Tomorrow’s session will be decisive. @monfortcarlos

Could Barcelona look to repeat Lewandowski trick?

Incidentally, Barcelona are one of the sides that have been linked with a move for Kane too. He is out of contract in 2027, and Tottenham Hotspur are also reportedly interested in bringing back Kane too. The 32-year-old has been in scintillating form for Bayern, and would represent a similar move as the one Barcelona made for Lewandowski in 2022. However, any move for Kane, or Vlahovic will be subject to their ability to spend as dictated by their salary limit, with no sign of an economic lever on the horizon.
