Real Madrid have set their sights on one guaranteed signing for next summer, but it may not be straightforward to get it done.
It’s no secret that Real Madrid have a very attractive buy-back clause for Nico Paz, who has been a revelation in the Serie A since he joined Como in 2024. The 21-year-old has three goals and three assists in only six appearances at the start of this season, which is why Los Blancos are already making arrangements for his return to the Santiago Bernabeu.
Real Madrid’s plan is to activate their option to re-sign Paz in the early stages of next summer’s transfer window, but as per CaughtOffside, they could face significant competition from Chelsea.
Chelsea view Paz as an alternative option to Fermin Lopez, whom they failed to sign from Barcelona during the recent transfer window. Como would much prefer to sell to the Premier League side due to the fact they would earn significant more money, although they are preparing moves of their own with Real Madrid.
Como want to remove Paz buy-back clause
According to the report, Como are preparing to hold talks with Real Madrid in the coming months, as they are seeking to remove the aforementioned buy-back clause. The Serie A side believe that they could sell the Argentina international for as much as €80m, compared to the reported €8m that Los Blancos could acquire him for.
Given that Real Madrid are actively planning to bring Paz back next summer, it would be a surprise to see them, engage in these negotiations with Como. There is no reason to forego signing the playmaker for a bargain price, and those in the club’s sporting department deserve enormous credit for including this in the original agreement between the two teams from 2024.
