Chelsea are one of the clubs interested in signing Bayer Leverkusen defender Jonathan Tah.
They face heavy competition, though, with Real Madrid, Barcelona and Bayern Munich all linked with him as well.
Tah will be out of contract at the end of the season, and whilst Leverkusen want to tempt him with a new deal, he is not interested in an extension.
His loss will be a big blow to the Bundesliga champions, given the pivotal role he played in their completion of a domestic league and cup double last season.
And that means he will be free to talk to other clubs when the January window opens and even sign a pre-contract agreement.
Arguably, Chelsea have lacked a commanding central defender since Antonio Rüdiger left the club, but, if they want to tempt Tah to Stamford Bridge, they know they will have to make him a very good offer.
