It has been a strong start to life in Nervion for Sanchez. At his mature age, and having cost nothing, expectations were relatively low. However he has shown that he has lost none of his nous in front of goal in the early going.

Coming on to make his debut 12 days ago against Elche, Sanchez provided a crucial assist for Peque Fernandez – another former Barcelona forward – to grab the equaliser with five minutes to go in a 2-2 draw. Eight days later, Sanchez came on after just 14 minutes to replace the injured Alfon Gonzalez away to Alaves. He would come up with the winner this time halfway through the second half, with a smooth finish from a Jose Angel Carmona cutback.
