Fans to get first look at renovated Camp Nou as Barcelona release live stream

BARCELONA fans have been given a look into the renovated Spotify Camp Nou as they continue their £1.25billion development.

The LaLiga giants announced in 2022 that they will move ahead with plans to increase the stadium from 99,000 to 104,000.

It will also have a host of new features, with escalators and a roof added alongside a renaming in line with the club’s £237million sponsorship deal with Spotify.

Barcelona plan to return to their home ground by the end of 2024 after spending 18 months at the Estadio Olimpico.

It is only set to be open to 60 per cent capacity, increasing to between 90 and 95 per cent next season.

And fans have now been granted a glimpse into how the work is coming along after Barcelona shared footage of the stadium via a live stream on Tuesday.

Virtual images were also released on a new website, Espai Barcelona, showing how the ground will look once completed.

A summary of the development read: “A space where anything is possible, a place to experience new ways of enjoying sport and entertainment, strengthening inclusion and integration with the neighbourhood.

“An innovative and groundbreaking project.

“A far-reaching improvement to boost the club’s growth, ensure new sources of income, and secure the future of the organisation.”

Earlier this year, it was revealed talks were in the final stages for a walkway that will offer a bird’s eye view of the stadium and city from the ground’s roof.

However, anyone wanting to use the “skywalk” will have to wait until the roof is fully installed – which will mean it won’t open until 2026.

Barcelona will not play at Nou Camp for 2023-24 season as they confirm new stadium while iconic ground is renovated

The stadium improvements are set to earn Barcelona £25m more in revenue each year.

It comes at a time when the football club are suffering a financial crisis.

President Joan Laporta offered an update on the stadium on Tuesday, saying: “Spotify Camp Nou is progressing as planned but we don’t want to announce a date.

“We are convinced that it is a reality [to move in by the end of 2024] and that, even though obstacles come up, we are overcoming them daily.

“The desire to return as quickly as possible is absolute, and if there are no imponderables, we will able to be back at New Year.”
