“Going little by little” – Major update provided on Antony’s

Real Betis CEO Ramon Alarcon says that his club are “working” on signing Antony following the Manchester United attacker’s successful loan spell.

Real Betis CEO Ramon Alarcon has revealed that his club are “working” on signing Antony following the Manchester United attacker’s successful loan spell.

Antony excelled at Real Betis in the second half of the 2024-25 campaign, scoring nine goals and registering five assists in 26 appearances in all competitions.

The 25-year-old played his part in helping Manuel Pellegrini’s side reach the Conference League final, while he also contributed to what proved to be a sixth-placed finish in Spain’s top flight.

As it stands, Antony will return to Man United for pre-season next month, but the Red Devils are believed to be hopeful of selling him during this summer’s transfer window.

According to Alarcon, Real Betis are “going little by little”, with the club bidding to re-sign the South American.

“Working, working… It’s still very early. We’re going little by little, as there’s still a lot of market space to be filled. This is very long, and it hasn’t even really begun,” Alarcon told Estadio Deportivo.

Real Betis “working” to re-sign Antony from Man United

Antony has only managed 12 goals and five assists in 96 appearances for Man United, with the forward struggling to make his mark after arriving from Ajax.

The attacker consistently spoke of his happiness at Real Betis in the second half of last season and said on multiple occasions that he was happier with life in Spain.

However, it remains to be seen whether Real Betis can sign Antony on a permanent basis due to the numbers involved, as his excellent form has placed Man United in a stronger position.

Another loan deal is believed to be a possibility, but Bayer Leverkusen, Atletico Madrid and Juventus are also said to be keeping a close eye on the situation.

Man United must sell Antony for £32.5m to ensure that a loss is not recorded on his move from Ajax, and it is understood that the club have set that figure as their asking price.

Which other attackers could leave Man United this summer?

Man United are expected to overhaul their attack this summer, and a deal for Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Matheus Cunha was confirmed on Thursday afternoon.

Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo, Sporting Lisbon’s Viktor Gyokeres and Eintracht Frankfurt’s Hugo Ekitike are also viewed as potential targets for the Red Devils this summer.

Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho are set to follow Antony out of the exit door this summer, while Alejandro Garnacho is also set to depart.

Garnacho was involved in Man United’s post-season tour but has allegedly been told to find a new team, with as many as five clubs believed to be battling for his signature.

The Red Devils are said to want in the region of £70m for Garnacho, who has scored 26 goals and registered 22 assists in 144 appearances for the club in all competitions.
