Inside the incredible figures behind Saudi Arabia’s Vinicius Jr transfer chase

SAUDI ARABIAN clubs are willing to splash over £1BILLION on bringing Vinicius Jr to the Middle East, according to reports.

The Real Madrid star could be the subject of a huge world-record £250m bid this summer.

Vinicius currently pockets £17m-a-year with the LaLiga and Champions League holders.

But Saudi chiefs are willing to take his earnings to a staggering £168m-a-year.

Reports from AS in Spain say they want to offer Vinicius that amount over a five-year period, meaning his contract will be worth £865m.

Real Madrid are desperate to keep him and insist it would take a bid close to the player’s £1bn release clause for them to even consider selling.

But they will not stand in Vinicius’ way should he be tempted by the cash on the table.

The player is reportedly happy at Real Madrid and does not see himself leaving.

But to help ensure he stays put in the Spanish capital, Los Blancos are set to offer him an improved contract at the end of the season.

But despite the Galactico riches of Real, they cannot compete with the financial power of the Saudis.

And they have money to spend after Al-Hilal ripped up Vini’s Brazilian compatriot Neymar’s whopping £2.5m-a-week contract.

He played just seven games, scoring one goal in 18 months.

Crunching the numbers, each of Neymar’s appearances cost them an outrageous £38.7m.

Plus, he will still take home a cheque of £51.9m in wages owed to him until the remainder of the season after agreeing to give up just 15 per cent to end his contract early.

Therefore, Al-Hilal have only saved themselves £8m.

Ex-Barcelona and PSG superstar Neymar ruptured his ACL just five games into his spell in the Middle East in October 2023.

He then picked up a serious hamstring problem on his return.

Neymar is set to re-join his boyhood club Santos.

But it all means the Saudi Pro League need a new poster boy alongside Cristiano Ronaldo and potentially another star to promote the country ahead of the 2034 World Cup.
