Long-term Arsenal target chooses another club

Arsenal’s hopes of signing Espanyol goalkeeper Joan Garciá appear to be over, an d instead he is set ti join Barcelona instead.

The Gunners were heavily linked with the 23-year old shot stopper last summer, but in the end they  were not prepared to meet his release clause.

However, they stayed in touch with his representatives, and it appeared he was ready ot commit to the Emirates in this transfer window.

However, his form for Espanyol last season in a struggling side, saw nhis La Liga stock rise, and now he is set to move across town and join Espanyol’s hated rivals, Barcelona.

Although the amount of money required to sign somebody who would be no more than a back-yup to David Raya, it still leaves the Gunners with the need to recruit a reliable number two. Neto has completed his loan move and returned to Bournemouth, whilst the alternatives are still young and inexperienced.
