Manchester United are interested in signing Frenkie de Jong from Barcelona in the summer transfer window, according to Fichajes. Although La Liga giants Barcelona do not want to sell De Jong, Premier League outfit Man Utd are determined to bring the midfielder to Old Trafford.

De Jong has been on the books of Barcelona since 2019 when he joined from Eredivisie giants Ajax. The 27-year-old has won the La Liga title once with the Blaugrana so far in his career. The Netherlands international midfielder has scored 19 goals and given 23 assists in 250 appearances for Barcelona.

Man Utd are 14th in the Premier League table at the moment with 38 points from 33 matches, while Barcelona currently find themselves at the top of the La Liga standings with 74 points from 33 matches, seven points clear of second-placed and defending champions Real Madrid, who have played 32 games. Hansi Flick’s side have also reached the semi-finals of the Champions League as well as the final of the Copa del Rey.
