Marcos Llorente backed by Erling Haaland after tinted glasses rant
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Atletico Madrid star Marcos Llorente makes the headlines as much for his radical health habits as his performance on the pitch these days, and his latest post on Instagram focuses on the former. His habits of sunbathing without protection and not wearing sunglasses are well-documented, but it was a trending topic on social media when he appeared for media duties wearing tinted yellow glasses while on Spain duty.

The 30-year-old has previously stated that he believes that it is impossible to get skin cancer from the sun, and also subscribes to the conspiracy theory surrounding Chemtrails, claiming the government is using jet fuel to control the weather.

Marcos Llorente’s rant over his glasses

Llorente took to Instagram to explain that his use of tinted glasses was due to what he believed to be the potentially damaging effects of blue light and LED lights on the body.

“I use yellow (special) glass glasses during the day when I’m indoors. And at night, if I go out or am exposed to fireworks, I wear glasses with red glass. Why? Because I Protect My Biology. Because blue light, outside of its natural context (the day), is toxic. And I don’t say it, your mitochondria say it when they stop producing energy as they should,” he wrote as part of a longer statement on Instagram.

Backing from fellow stars

The Atletico Madrid star received backing from his fellow professionals, including Erling Haaland, who commented ‘well done’ on the post. Llorente enjoys a close friendship with ex-Barcelona forward Gerard Deulofeu, and he also commented on the post saying ‘First they laugh. Then they ask. And of course, they end up doing it.”

Meanwhile Atletico captain Koke Resurreccion commented that ‘Great, my bro’, and current Andorra manager Ibai Gomez responded saying ‘You’re the best’.

The view from a medical professional

Days earlier, when discussing Llorente’s glasses, Onda Cero spoke to Dr. Vicente Martin, an ophthalmologist at the University Hospital Rio Hortega of Valladolid. He explained that the only light that can damage the body is ultraviolet light and blue light, and that the lights in people’s homes and in the street are only capable of causing damage if you spend hours staring at them from close up, and that there was no evidence to suggest there was any medical reason for the glasses. He also went on to explain that over-exposure to the sun is the main cause of ageing, and the highet risk factor for cancer.

Marcos Llorente’s full post:

I’m just here to clear up the glasses issue because I see a lot of people who didn’t understand anything… or maybe he never will. And it’s okay. Not everyone is ready to question what they were taught. If you don’t care about your health, you can keep scrolling.

Nothing I share I make it up. It’s not a “personal opinion.” It’s biology (the real one). You just have to read it. So if what I say bothers you, argue with her.

I use yellow (special) glass glasses during the day when I’m indoors. And at night, if I go out or am exposed to fireworks, I wear glasses with red glass. Why? Because I Protect My Biology. Because blue light, outside of its natural context (the day), is toxic. And I don’t say it, your mitochondria say it when they stop producing energy as they should.

Your retina and skin have receptors that detect light and their colours. Your body uses it to turn on or off essential biological processes. If you give it the wrong signal like a 10pm screen or a white LED spotlight while eating dinner, the body responds badly. Period. No debate there.

And yes, the worst thing happens at night, when you alter your natural melatonin production. And you might be thinking, “Well, melatonin… what does it matter?” Well, it turns out that it matters for everything. Melatonin doesn’t just help you sleep. (Thank you Carlos for this next bit):

– Maintains cellular voltage and regulates the ionic channels of calcium and potassium (cancer).– Inhibits the Warburg effect, that is, with enough melatonin, cancer cannot proliferate.– Inhibits aromatase, blocking routes related to breast cancer.– Along with melanin, it is the most powerful antioxidant of the body.– It’s anti-inflammatory and boosts the immune system.– Adjust your biological clocks.– Control the two key cellular programs: autophagy (cellular cleaning) and apoptosis (scheduled cellular death). That prevents cancer and neurodegenerative diseases.

Wearing glasses that filter artificial light is not a biohacker fashion. It’s a necessity if you live trapped in modern environments, far from the sun, surrounded by screens and LED lights.A hug to everyone♥️
