Mbappe Gets 8.5, Rodrygo With 7.5 | Real Madrid Players Rated In Hard-Fought Victory Vs Marseille
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Real Madrid welcomed Olympique Marseille at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium earlier tonight as they focused on securing a win at home in the UEFA Champions League. Los Blancos made a slow start to the game as they conceded the opening goal in the 22nd minute when Timothy Weah scored for the visitors. However, Kylian Mbappe equalised from the penalty spot just six minutes later as the two teams went into the half-time break with a 1-1 scoreline.

Dani Carvajal was sent off by the referee in the 72nd minute. However, the ten men of Real Madrid managed to grab the lead in the 81st minute when Mbappe scored again from the penalty spot. The contest finished with Xabi Alonso’s side earning a hard-fought 2-1 victory at the Bernabeu.

Let’s take a look at how each Real Madrid player fared during the clash against Olympique Marseille.

GK: Thibaut Courtois – 7/10

The Belgian keeper made a few solid saves at the back and did enough to limit the opposition to just one goal.

RB: Trent Alexander-Arnold – N/A

He picked up an injury and had to be replaced in the fourth minute.

CB: Eder Militao – 6/10

Militao put his foot through the ball when he could, but was far from convincing at the back.

CB: Dean Huijsen – 6.5/10

He did his fair share of defending and was a threat going forward.

LB: Alvaro Carreras – 7/10

Carreras was a positive influence on both ends of the pitch.

CM: Federico Valverde – 6.5/10

He offered decent protection for his teammates inside his half and made two key chances going forward.

CM: Aurelien Tchouameni – 7/10

Tchouameni earned the ball back quite a few times and was a threat in the opposition half.

RW: Franco Mastantuono – 7/10

He was not shy of having a strike at goal and was replaced after the hour mark.

CAM: Arda Guler – 6/10

Guler caught the eye at times but gave away the ball cheaply in the lead-up to Weah’s goal.

LW: Rodrygo – 7.5/10

He was a constant menace in the final third, but there was no goal for him.

ST: Kylian Mbappe – 8.5/10

Mbappe caused all sorts of problems for the Marseille defenders and scored two penalties, which made the difference tonight.

Substitutes:

RB: Dani Carvajal – 5.5/10

He let his teammates down by getting sent off in the 72nd minute.

LW: Vinicius Junior – 6.5/10

Vinicius Jr. caused some headaches for his marker.

RW: Brahim Diaz – 6.5/10

He was a threat on the right flank.

CB: Raul Asencio – 6.5/10

Asencio was solid at the back.
