Monaco bring in Fati on season-long loan – Soccer News
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Ansu Fati has joined Monaco on loan from Barcelona for the 2025-26 season.

Fati has also extended his contract with the Blaugrana, though Monaco do have an option to make the transfer permanent.

The 22-year-old joined Barcelona’s academy in 2012 before making his first senior appearance for the club in August 2019 at 16 years old.

In December 2019, he became the youngest goalscorer in Champions League history, at 17 years and 40 days, when he netted the winner in a 2-1 victory over Inter.

Fati has made 123 appearances for the Barcelona first team in all competitions, netting 29 goals and registering six assists.

However, he appeared to fall out of favour at the club under Hansi Flick in 2024-25, failing to play a full 90 minutes as he made just three starts.

He enjoyed his most prolific season in 2022-23, making 51 appearances in all competitions and scoring 10 goals, the only time he has hit double figures in a single campaign.

Fati also spent a season on loan in the Premier League with Brighton, making 27 appearances and helping the Seagulls record their first-ever win in European competition as he scored in a 2-0 win over Ajax in the Europa League.
