Official: Barcelona confirm venue for match against Valencia

Barcelona have now made it known where they will be facing Valencia in their next La Liga match, which takes place on Sunday. The Catalan club has been desperately working to secure the necessary documentation to play the match at their Spotify Camp Nou home, but they have now run out of time.

Prior to be the international break, there had been belief within Barcelona that they would receive the necessary sign-off to face Valencia at the Spotify Camp Nou, but in the end, this has proven not to be the case. And with the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys – where they have played their home matches for the last two years – not usable this weekend, a different option has been sought.

There had been previous concerns that Barcelona could also not use the Estadi Johan Cruyff for the match, but this is not the case. And the club has now confirmed in an official statement that they will play Valencia there on Sunday evening.

“FC Barcelona announces that the match corresponding to Matchday 4 of LaLiga, scheduled for Sunday, September 14 at 9:00 p.m. against Valencia CF, will not yet be able to take place at the Spotify Camp Nou.

“The Club is working intensively to obtain the necessary administrative permits for the opening of the Spotify Camp Nou in the coming weeks. For this reason, the match will instead be played at the Estadi Johan Cruyff.

“FC Barcelona would like to thank its members and fans for their understanding and support during such a complex yet exciting process as the return to the new Spotify Camp Nou. The Club will provide further details soon regarding the organization of the match and ticketing procedures.”

Next deadline is in 7 days’ time

Now that Barcelona know they will not face Valencia at the Spotify Camp Nou, their next target will be to secure the necessary arrangement to play next weekend’s match against Getafe at their home stadium. If this also does not happen, they will be at the Estadi Olimpic.
