Predicted Teams Getafe-Real Madrid: Carlo Ancelotti weighs up rotations
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Real Madrid do not have a comfortable tie ahead of the Copa del Rey final against Barcelona on Saturday which will allow them to rest on their laurels, with Getafe awaiting them at the Coliseum on Wednesday night. Jose Bordalas’ side have drawn with Barcelona and beaten Atletico Madrid at home this season already.

Los Blancos are already without Kylian Mbappe, Ferland Mendy, Dani Carvajal and Eder Militao through injury, but defence may well be the area that Carlo Ancelotti decides to rotate most. Diario AS believe Fran Garcia or David Alaba will return at left-back, and Lucas Vazquez will be back at right-back, with Aurelien Tchouameni returning to defence again. That would allow Antonio Rudiger a rest, with Dani Ceballos, Eduardo Camavinga and Fede Valverde in midfield.

With no Mbappe, few changes are expected up front, but Lucas Vazquez and Fran Garcia could return in the backline.

The front three, with Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo Goes and Jude Belingham will look like last season, on that Marca agree. Yet they believe Ancelotti will go out with a much stronger line-up, repeating the same side that beat Athletic Club on Sunday night, including Luka Modric in midfield, and a second straight start for Ceballos as he recovers from injury.

Bordalas is without Allan Nyom and Diego Rico at full-back through injury, while Chrisantus Uche is out due to suspension. The Nigerian midfielder has become a reconverted forward this season, and that leaves Bordalas with a debate up front. AS feel Juanmi will be alone up top, with Coba da Costa and Ramon Terrats charged with the supply line out wide. Marca are under the impression that two will play up top with Juanmi being partnered by Borja Mayoral.

There is also debate over whether it will be five at the back or Bordalas’ favoured 4-4-2. The difference would be Juan Iglesias at right-back or Mayoral up front, with the others in the team shifting around to accommodate either of them.
