Prediction: Barcelona to win 2-1

Best Odds: 131/20

Bookmaker: Zetbet

Getafe and Barcelona will lock horns with each other in La Liga this weekend. The match between José Bordalás’s side and Hansi Flick’s team will be held at Estadio Coliseum and is scheduled to kick off at 8pm UK time on Saturday.

Getafe

Getafe are a modest club in Spain who are happy to finish in mid-table in La Liga. Azulones ended up 12th in the Spanish top flight last season, and one suspects that the fans will be happy with a similar finish this time around.

José Bordalás’s side, though, are struggling at the moment and are in real danger of getting relegated to the Segunda Division at the end of the season. Getafe are as low as 15th in the La Liga table at the moment with 19 points from 19 matches, just two points above the relegation zone.

Getafe will head into the La Liga match against Barcelona at Estadio Coliseum this weekend on the back of a 1-0 victory over Pontevedra away from home in the Copa del Rey. It came after a 2-1 victory over Las Palmas on the road in La Liga which came after a 1-0 win against Granada in the Copa del Rey.

Team News:

Getafe are likely to line up in a 4-4-2 formation against Barcelona. David Soria will be in goal for the home team. Djene, Domingos Duarte, Omar Alderete and Juan Iglesias will be the four defenders. Carles Alena, Luis Milla, Mauro Arambarri and Coba Da Costa will play in midfield. Bertug Yildirim and Christantus Uche will be the two forwards.

Barcelona

Barcelona are one of the biggest clubs on the planet and are aiming to win La Liga and the UEFA Champions League. The Blaugrana had a poor 2023-24 campaign and will be determined to make amends this time around.

The Blaugrana are third in the La Liga table at the moment with 38 points from 19 matches. Barcelona are six points behind leaders Atletico Madrid and are five points behind second-placed and defending champions Real Madrid. They have lost their last two league games and are now in danger of falling further behind in the race for the title.

Barcelona will head into the La Liga match against Getafe away from home at Estadio Coliseum this weekend on the back of a 5-1 hammering of Real Betis at Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys in the Copa del Rey. It came after a 5-2 victory over Real Madrid in the Spanish Supercopa final which followed a 2-0 victory over Athletic Bilbao in the semi-finals of the Spanish Supercopa.

Team News:

Barcelona are likely to line up in a 4-3-3 formation against Getafe. Inaki Pena will be in goal for the Blaugrana. Jules Kounde, Ronald Araujo, Pau Cubarsi and Gerard Martin will be the four defenders. Gavi, Frenkie de Jong and Pedri will line up in midfield. Lamine Yamal, Ferran Torres and Raphina will be the three forwards.

Key Factors to Consider

Getafe have won 3 and lost 3 of their last 6 La Liga matches.
Getafe have scored 13 goals and conceded 16 goals in 19 La Liga matches.
Barcelona have lost 3 of their last 4 La Liga games.
Barcelona have won 1 of their last 6 La Liga games.
Robert Lewandowski has scored 16 goals and given 2 assists in 18 La Liga matches for Barcelona this season.

Conclusion

With Getafe struggling for survival in La Liga at the moment and Barcelona having a much better, it is hard to see anything but a win for the Catalan giants. Although Getafe will have a home advantage and the Blaugrana have not been in great form lately, the visiting team should be able to pick up all three points from the encounter at Estadio Coliseum.

Prediction: Barcelona to win 2-1
