Sports Mole looks at how Real Madrid could line up for Wednesday’s La Liga clash with Getafe at the Coliseum.
Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti is expected to rotate his side for Wednesday’s La Liga meeting with Getafe at the Coliseum.
Ancelotti faces a balancing act of selecting a squad capable of beating Getafe and keeping key players fresh for Saturday’s Copa del Rey final against Clasico rivals Barcelona.
The Real Madrid boss is also unsure whether he can call upon Kylian Mbappe, who sustained an ankle injury in last week’s Champions League defeat to Arsenal.
Mbappe, who was suspended for Sunday’s 1-0 win over Athletic Bilbao, is hoping to prove his fitness in time for Wednesday’s fixture to at least play a role from the bench.
Ferland Mendy is also a doubt due to a hamstring injury, while Los Blancos remain without long-term absentees Dani Carvajal and Eder Militao.
While Thibaut Courtois should remain in goal, Ancelotti is set to make changes to the backline, with Lucas Vazquez, David Alaba and Fran Garcia all in contention to join Antonio Rudiger in the back four.
Vazquez’s inclusion would allow Federico Valverde to vacate the right-back spot and move into central midfield alongside Aurelien Tchouameni.
Brahim Diaz and Rodrygo could operate as the two wingers if Ancelotti decides to rest Vinicius Junior ahead of the Copa del Rey final.
Jude Bellingham may also drop out of the side with Saturday’s final in mind, which could allow Arda Guler to operate as a number 10 against Getafe.
Meanwhile, Endrick could be given the chance to make his first league start after coming off the bench to play over half an hour at the weekend.
Real Madrid possible starting lineup:Courtois, Vazquez, Rudiger, Alaba, Garcia; Valverde, Tchouameni; Brahim, Guler, Rodrygo; Endrick
