The Washington Commanders will take on the Miami Dolphins in the first NFL game to take place on Spanish soil.

In the build up to the showpiece occasion, the Santiago Bernabeu has been given a makeover.

A huge banner adorns the upper reaches of the stadium – featuring the logos of the NFL, both franchises involved, as well as the tag line of the event “Unete Al Show”, meaning “join the show”.

Around the stadium can also be seen a new corporate logo, which simply reads “Bernabeu” beneath an illustration of the stadium’s exterior.

Spanish outlet AS claim that this weekend’s game will be the first showpiece event that will see the logo used.

They add that “Santiago” has been dropped from the logo in order to make it “shorter and more impactful”.

It’s claimed that the logo will accompany all non-football events that take place at the stadium.

Next up after this weekend will be a Christmas festival, set to go ahead between December 24-31.

The Santiago Bernabeu has undergone £1.5bn in renovations during recent years.

Real’s epic project was finally finished in 2024 following several years of work.

Brand-new features include a stunning 360-degree LED scoreboard screen, sleek steel facade and flagship VIP hospitality suite, the SkyBar.

While the pitch has also been split into six panels which are split up and stored in an underground greenhouse, only coming out for matchdays – in one of the most advanced pieces of architecture in world football.
