Rodrygo ready to change role to play more often
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Brazilian attacker Rodrygo has struggled for regular gametime at Real Madrid, and he might need to leave the club in order to play more often.

However, a report from Defensa Central claims that the player has requested a change of roles so that he can play more often. The 24-year-old has played in an attacking midfield role for Brazil recently, and he impressed in that position. He has asked Xabi Alonso to offer him more gametime in that position. It remains to be seen whether the Spanish manager is willing to accommodate his demands.

The 24-year-old has started just once in La Liga this season. A player of his quality needs to play more often. It will be interesting to see how the situation develops. He is highly rated across Europe, and he is expected to develop into a world-class player. However, he will not be able to fulfil his potential without regular gametime. At this stage of his career, sitting on the bench at Real Madrid will be detrimental to his development. It remains to be seen whether Real Madrid are prepared to provide him more opportunities going forward. If that does not happen, the player could be under pressure to leave.

Rodrygo was heavily linked with an exit during the summer transfer window.

The 24-year-old is naturally a centre forward who is capable of operating on the flanks as well. However, he has shown that he is capable of operating in the attacking midfield role as well. He could add goals and creativity to the Real Madrid attack.

Having a player like him in the side could prove to be a huge boost for any club. Real Madrid must provide him with more opportunities if they want to hold on to him. The 24-year-old is still quite young, and he could develop into a world-class player with regular opportunities.
