Spence And Van De Ven Get 7.5 | Tottenham Hotspur Players Rated In Narrow Win Vs Villarreal
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Tottenham Hotspur entertained Villarreal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium earlier tonight as they looked to secure a win at home in the UEFA Champions League. Spurs had a fortunate start to the game as they found themselves 1-0 up in the fourth minute due to an own goal from Luiz Junior. Thomas Frank’s men sat on their lead well and went into the half-time break 1-0 to the good.

The North London club controlled the game well in the second half and managed to grind out a narrow 1-0 win in front of their home fans.

Let’s take a look at how each Tottenham Hotspur player fared during the clash against Villarreal.

GK: Guglielmo Vicario – 6.5/10

Vicario didn’t have a save to make in the game and kept an easy clean sheet tonight.

RB: Pedro Porro – 7/10

He performed his defensive duties well and made one key chance going forward.

CB: Cristian Romero – 6.5/10

Romero did his fair share of defending and was good on the ball.

CB: Micky van de Ven – 7.5/10

He gave a good account of himself on the defensive end of the field and would be quite pleased with the clean sheet.

LB: Djed Spence – 7.5/10

Spence came back to defend when required and made some driving runs with the ball.

CM: Lucas Bergvall – 6.5/10

He caught the eye at times at the centre of the park and was replaced in the 91st minute.

CM: Rodrigo Bentancur – 7/10

Bentancur was a positive influence at both ends of the pitch.

CM: Pape Matar Sarr – 6.5/10

He was full of energy and running, but put in a lackluster display in the opponent’s half.

RW: Mohammed Kudus – 7/10

Kudus made two dangerous runs with the ball but struggled to find the back of the net.

ST: Richarlison – 6.5/10

He made some important clearances at the back but failed to threaten the opponent’s goal.

LW: Xavi Simons – 7/10

Simons worked hard defensively and managed to shine at times in the final third.

Substitutes:

LB: Destiny Udogie – 6.5/10

He was solid at the back.

CM: Joao Palhinha – 6.5/10

He added some energy to Frank’s midfield.

ST: Randal Kolo Muani – 6/10

Kolo Muani made one good chance in the final third.

LW: Brennan Johnson – 6.5/10

He made one decent run with the ball.

CB: Kevin Danso – N/A
