Tottenham ‘remain keen’ on signing 21-cap Engl

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly among clubs who admire Atletico Madrid midfielder Conor Gallagher. 

Gallagher joined the La Liga club last summer from Chelsea for a fee of around £34m in a deal that saw Joao Felix moving in the opposite direction. 

The 25-year-old made 50 appearances for the Rojiblancos under Diego Simeone in the 2024-25 season, scoring four goals. 

According to a report from TBR Football, Spurs boss Thomas Frank appreciates him, and while Gallagher is happy at Atletico, intermediaries have been put in touch to gauge his potential options. 

Newcastle United are also interested in the former Chelsea midfielder, and the Magpies are exploring the possibilities to bring him back to the Premier League.

Gallagher fits the bill at Tottenham 

Spurs were heavily keen to sign Gallagher before he moved to Atletico, and they could rekindle their interest this summer. 

The north London club are looking to sign a new number six this summer, and the former Chelsea midfielder would be perfect for them. 

While he is happy in Spain and probably feels that he has made the right move, the chance of returning to the Premier League could be too tempting to reject outright, especially when Spurs and Newcastle can offer him Champions League football next season. 

Spurs have reportedly held talks to sign Bayern Munich’s Joao Palhinha, but Gallagher would be a better option. 

Could Gallagher be tempted to move to Tottenham? 

The 21-cap England international may drop down the pecking order at the Wanda Metropolitano next season. 

Diego Simeone has brought in five new players this summer, and Gallagher could face competition for a regular starting role. 

The Chelsea academy graduate will be aware that he needs to play regularly to keep his place intact in Thomas Tuchel’s squad ahead of next summer’s World Cup, and therefore, a potential move to Tottenham could appeal to him.
