Sports Mole rounds up the latest transfer news and rumours, including Junior Firpo to Real Betis, Clement Lenglet to Atletico Madrid and Bradley Barcola to Bayern Munich.
Real Betis have reportedly made an approach to sign Leeds United defender Junior Firpo this summer.
Firpo started 30 of his 32 Championship appearances in 2024-25, scoring four goals and providing 10 assists to help Daniel Farke’s side win promotion to the Premier League.
However, it seems unlikely that he will still be at Elland Road for their Premier League return, with his contract set to expire at the end of this month.
As per the Yorkshire Evening News, Leeds believe they have tabled a suitable offer for Firpo to extend his stay with the club.
However, there is no agreement in place between the two parties, and it seems likely that the 28-year-old will be available on a free transfer from July 1.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Betis have made an approach to re-sign the Dominican Republic international.
Firpo spent time in Betis’ youth system and B team, before he went on to make 45 competitive appearances for the senior side.
Betis sold Firpo to Barcelona in the summer of 2019, but they are now open to bringing him back to the club as they look to sign a new left-back ahead of the 2025-26 campaign.
Lenglet completes permanent Barcelona exit
Staying in Spain, Clement Lenglet has officially joined Atletico Madrid in a permanent move from Barcelona.
The Frenchman spent the 2024-25 season on loan at Diego Simeone’s side, making 34 appearances in all competitions.
Lenglet was set to return to his parent club following his loan spell, but Barcelona announced on Monday that they have reached an agreement to terminate the player’s contract.
The termination officially brought an end to Lenglet’s association with the Catalan giants, leaving the club after making 160 appearances in all competitions.
Atletico swiftly announced that they have signed the 29-year-old defender on a free transfer following his Barcelona exit.
Lenglet put pen to paper on a three-year contract to keep him at the Metropolitano until the summer of 2028.
Atletico have recruited Lenglet in time for the Club World Cup, with Simeone’s side set to compete in a group with Paris Saint-Germain, Botafogo and Seattle Sounders.
Bayern make Barcola top transfer target
Over in Germany, Bayern Munich have reportedly identified Paris Saint-Germain’s attacker, Bradley Barcola, as one of their priority targets for the summer window.
The Bavarians are keen to recruit a new left winger this summer, especially as Bryan Zaragoza and Kingsley Coman could leave this summer.
According to Sky Sports News, the Bundesliga champions have made Barcola their top target in their pursuit of a new left winger.
The update claims that Bayern are exploring the viability of a potential move, although they are aware that it will be difficult to prise Barcola away from the Parc des Princes.
The 22-year-old, who is under contract until 2028, played a prominent role in PSG’s treble-winning campaign, scoring 21 goals and providing 19 assists in 58 competitive matches.
While Barcola may be Bayern’s first-choice option, they are considering Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams as their main alternative, while they have also put Brighton & Hove Albion’s Karou Mitoma, Liverpool’s Cody Gakpo and AC Milan’s Rafael Leao on their shortlist of potential targets.
