However, Spain has been hit by terrifying flash floods – especially in the city of Valencia.

The city and region were one of three to have red weather warnings put in place by AEMET (State Meteorological Agency).

Tarragona and Castellon have also seen the alerts being sounded due to the bad weather.

One effect of the torrential rain is the postponement of the LaLiga fixture in Valencia.

The Royal Spanish Football Federation confirmed that the match has now had its date moved.

A statement read: “The sole Judge of professional competitions has decided to postpone the match between Valencia and Real Oviedo of Matchday 7 of the First Division due to the Red Alert declared by AEMET.

“Said match will be played tomorrow, Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at 8:00 PM, provided that weather conditions permit.”

Valencia will now face former Arsenal star Santi Cazorla’s Oviedo on TOMORROW at 8pm.

The club has also confirmed that training of the academy and women’s teams have been suspended for the time being.

Fans have also been told that the club stores will remain closed due to the weather.

A club statement read: “LaLiga has informed the Club of the decision taken today by the Professional Competitions Judge of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) due to the red alert for the risk of torrential rains and flooding in the province of Valencia issued by the Emergency Center of the Generalitat Valenciana.

“Given this situation, Valencia CF halted activity at the Ciutat Esportiva in Paterna on Monday, where all training sessions for the VCF Academy and VCF Women’s team have been suspended, and its official stores at Camp de Mestalla and Colón, 50, remain closed.”

Oviedo also released a statement in light of the news and has urged fans to take “caution”.

It read: “Real Oviedo supports the decision, always prioritising the safety of everyone involved.

“The Club wishes to send a message of caution to its fans, urging them to exercise extreme caution and follow the instructions and notifications from the authorities at all times.

“We regret any inconvenience caused to the Oviedo fans who travelled due to the postponement of the match.”

Valencia head into the game having won just two of their opening six league games.

The club is currently 12th in the table and will be hoping for another win against 19th-placed Oviedo.
