Real Madrid are hoping to re-establish a five-point lead at the top of La Liga, but their chances have taken a blow as Atletico Madrid have taken the lead in the Madrid derby at the RiyadhAir Metropolitano.
Atleti have threatened in the opening stages, and Alexander Sorloth wasted a big chance to score the opener as he waited too long to shot, which allowed Eder Militao to make a crucial last man challenge on the Norwegian striker. Despite this, Real Madrid saw their defence breached soon after.
And it is Robin Le Normand that has scored the opening goal of the Madrid derby, as he headed home from close range following a lovely cross from the right by Giuliano Simeone.

It’s a brilliant moment for Le Normand, who suffered a traumatic brain injury during this fixture last season. He rose above Aurelien Tchouameni to head the ball past Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, who was left with no chance.
