Who are the best Barcelona players right now? – LaLiga Expert
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

After some barren years in the Catalan capital, 2024 appointment Hansi Flick is getting the best out his Barcelona players, with a number of those currently ranking amongst the best performers in Europe.

We’ve ranked the best Barcelona players right now by their average score (out of 100) on Sorare’s scoring matrix. This takes into account goals and assists, as well as a huge number of smaller match actions from tackles and interceptions, to penalty area entries and fouls won.

To feature in the rankings on this page, Barca players must have appeared in at least 50% of their eligible matches within the relevant time-frame. Scores in league, European and international matches contribute to the average.

You can join Sorare today if you want to start playing their global fantasy football game for yourself. Read our 2025 Sorare review to find out more.

Barcelona best players 2024/25 – Ranked by their Sorare average scores (Last 15 matches)

5. Wojciech Szczesny – 59.6

As recently as last summer, Wojciech Szczesny was no longer even a footballer, with the experienced goalkeeper retiring following his departure from Juventus.

However, a serious injury for Marc-Andre ter Stegen in September 2024, led to Barcelona moving to tempt the Polish shot-stopper out of retirement, and he swiftly joined up with compatriot Robert Lewandowski by signing for Barca as a free agent.

Initially, Szczesny did not convince, with a shaky Supercopa in January adding to the sense that he was well past his best. However, Flick has shown plenty of faith in the 34-year-old who has consistently been preferred to Iñaki Peña during the absence of Ter Stegen.

Szczesny’s level has significantly improved in recent weeks, with a star display in Lisbon in the Champions League against Benfica the highlight of his brief Barca career to date.

4. Iñigo Martinez – 66.2

Another player who has been a somewhat unlikely revelation this season for Barcelona has been Iñigo Martinez. With injuries for the likes of Ronald Araujo and Andreas Christensen pushing him up the pecking order, Martinez has excelled in central defence alongside youngster Pau Cubarsi.

The former Real Sociedad and Athletic Club man boasts a wealth of experience when it comes to football in the Spanish top flight, and that has really come in handy this term with the 33-year-old having a really assured campaign at the back in an attack-minded Barca side.

His average of 3.7 clearances per match is comfortably the highest in the Barca squad, while Martinez has also been accomplished in possession, completing 91.2% of his passes.

3. Lamine Yamal – 67.4

At the other end of the age scale, Lamine Yamal continues to show why he is the most talented teenager in world football.

He has already scored 11 times in LaLiga in his short career, he joint-most of any player under the age of 18, but it’s his ability to create goals which has been even more impressive, with the Spain international the player with the most assists in the Spanish top flight this term (11).

Already a European champion at international level after a playing a major role in Spain’s success in Germany last summer, Yamal could be set for a huge 2025. Some scintillating displays on the right flank for Barca have helped put his team into treble contention as we head into the final two months of the season.

2. Raphinha – 69.7

Should Barca go on to win the Champions League, their top performers are sure to be among the leading candidates for the Ballon d’Or, and aside from Yamal, Raphinha will also surely be in the frame.

That marks a remarkable transformation in the fortunes of the Brazilian who was linked with a move away from Barcelona last summer, with the club keen on signing Nico Williams, another of Spain’s best young talents, to link up with Yamal.

Raphinha stayed put though, and he has really flourished under Flick, with the 28-year-old netting 27 goals already this term in all competitions. He has arguably been the best overall player in the Champions League this season, with 11 goals and five assists from 10 appearances in the competition ahead of the quarter-final stage.

1. Pedri – 71.7

While Pedri’s goal contribution numbers are way down on the likes of Yamal and Raphinha, the midfielder increasingly feels like the player who makes this Barca side tick.

Overplayed when he was still a teenager, Pedri has struggled to find his best level in recent years, with niggling injuries often hampering him. However, he is certainly another player who has really enjoyed life under Flick, with the 22-year-old already maturing into somebody who can dictate the pace of games from the centre of the park.

He ranks in the top 10 of LaLiga with an average of 1.8 key passes per game this season, and he has frequently been the player to get on the ball and provide the service to the two widemen.

Zooming out to the last 40 matches, with the help of Soraredata, and it’s Raphinha who stands out as the pick of the FC Barcelona players over a time period which roughly spans the length of the 2024/25 season so far.

Lewandowski also sneaks into the top five, and the ex-Bayern man remains the undisputed first choice when it comes to Barcelona strikers, not that Flick has an abundance of options in that area.

Youngsters Cubarsi and Marc Casado rank just outside the top five, but have both enjoyed strong campaigns, although it’s true that Casado has tailed off a bit in recent months, often losing his place in the Barcelona lineup to the improving Frenkie de Jong.
