Real Sociedad midfielder Martín Zubimendi is set to have a medical ahead of his expected move to Arsenal.
It was back in January that he first became linked with a move to North London, and club executives have been working on the details ever since.
However, Arsenal supporters will not feel relaxed until Zubimendi is pictured wearing the famous red and white shirts. This is a player that Liverpool thought they had signed last summer only for him to back out of the move at the last minute.
And reports from Spain continue to suggest that Real Madrid might attempt to hijack the deal, even though they were effectively told it was too late when the two clubs met in the Champions League.
Mikel Arteta has repeatedly said, however, that he wants the club’s transfer business done early this summer, so if Zubimendi’s signature is secured, that is a good start.
